Reminiscing With Legends - Book Review
The three most recent Scottish Cup victories and it's importance to generations of Hearts fans can be measured in different ways. Tennents or William Hills? Carnival De Paris, Seven Nation Army or Levels? The nail biting experiences of 98 & 06 or the testimonial pace of the final 40 minutes of 2012?
Upon hearing about this project some months ago, my main hopes for the book would be that it would provide a great historical account of my favourite experience as a Hearts fan for future generations of jambos and although it more than delivers on that front, it has been a very pleasant surprise to see so much research and work carried out on the events from July 1995 that led up to that special sunny day in May.
With the current financial clout of even the lower leagues down south at the moment and impact this has on our ability to cherry pick the best of the young Scottish talent, this book will provide a great insight into how we were able to assemble our cup winning squad during 3 years for around 1 million pounds in transfer fees through the personal touches that JJ & BB showed when coveting players and their contacts in taking advantage of the Bosman ruling.
There are chapters dedicated to all the main players from that cup winning side, but most importantly it also includes stories and anecdotes from the whole squad and some Hearts supporters.
I do not want to spoil the book for you all but what I would say is that you will find it very interesting to read about how we beat our competitors to snare the likes of Cameron, Flogel and Adam.
The last chapter is fittingly left to pay tribute to the late great Stefano Salvatori and highlights the great lengths that Anthony Brown has went to in search of providing a comprehensive look back at the Italians career as a whole.
This book would be a great xmas present for loved ones so get snapping them up directly from the link below or from Hearts Direct.
